Berhampur, June 30: In a major crackdown, a joint team of police and the Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department raided a fake sauce manufacturing unit operating for over a decade in the Pitchpicha area under the Badabazar police limits of Berhampur.

The authorities seized a large quantity of substandard tomato and chili sauces, vinegar, and pickles during the raid. The factory, which had reportedly been producing and distributing counterfeit food products for the past 10 years, was found operating in unhygienic and unsafe conditions.
Further investigation is underway to identify the distribution network and those involved in the illegal operation.
